As an accountant and bookkeeper, I find great satisfaction in helping small businesses succeed, drawing on my own entrepreneurial background and experience as a consultant and federal contractor.
I’ve been an entrepreneur far longer than I’ve been an accountant. Since I was 4 years old, I experimented with any venture I could. As a high school student, I started a successful ice cream business with my family, which I ran until I went off to college. The lessons I learned from that endeavor, especially the overwhelming support and encouragement I received from our business community and neighbors, developed into a passion for helping small businesses thrive and grow.
After graduating from Elon University with degrees in International Business and Accounting, I earned my CPA license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I started my career in public accounting as a federal contractor, providing advisory services to a DOJ component. I then switched to consulting, where I worked with clients across several industries – health services, software development, and national defense, to name a few. While I’m no longer assisting billion-dollar transactions or advising on complex technical matters, I carry that experience with me and bring my own entrepreneurial inclinations to my small business clients.
My value proposition is to provide high-quality service and qualified expertise without charging premium rates simply because my title warrants it. Even as a bookkeeper, my “Accountant” hat never comes off – you’re always getting the work quality and professionalism synonymous with a reputable accountant. However, when the need arises for a CPA – for example, to prepare financial statements, deal with a technical accounting matter, or get ready for an audit – you already have a partner that knows your business and your books, and who can step in immediately to offer support.
